God's Character in the Creation

We can see much about the character of God in His creation of the universe. When we look at all He made and how He made it, we see some of His attributes clearly. These things are what sets Him apart from all of His creatures. We are nothing compared to our great God. (Jeremiah 51:15) Let's take a minute to consider what Jeremiah declared to us.

God made the world by His power. He has the power to create something out of nothing. Only the One True God can do that. He spoke, and light came into being. He created for six days, and He rested from creation, not because He was tired, but to show us our need for a day of rest each week. His power is so great that He never even sleeps. We see His surpassing power in all of the earth.

God established the world by His wisdom. It was not enough to create the world. It had to last. He had to use His wisdom to design a universe that could sustain itself. He did that by establishing laws of nature and creating order to animals and plants. All of His creation works together because of His wisdom in making all of it well.

He stretched out the heaven by His understanding. We are told the universe is still expanding. Only God knew how to cause that to happen. The atmosphere has been alive with oxygen and the right elements since the day He established it. The planets all stay in their orbits, because of how God designed gravity and other laws of nature. His understanding is immense.

All of these character qualities are readily seen by observing all God made, and it is impossible to miss God when we look at what He created, and we understand the complexity of it all. It is far beyond human capability. It points us all to an all-powerful, all-wise God with complete understanding.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Lamentations 1-3.
