Your Life as a Prize
God taught Jeremiah a valuable lesson about our lives that we all need to learn. Jeremiah lived in a day of adversity on all flesh. His times were not unlike the times in which we live now, but they were worse than we have it in America. God told Jeremiah not to seek great things for himself in those terrible times. However, He gave him the right perspective to have through it all. God was going to give him his life as a prize in all the places he went. (Jeremiah 45:5) Wow! How many of us have learned this powerful lesson?
Are we content with our lives as they are now? Yes, I know we should all strive to be like Jesus more every day and to grow in the Lord. That is not what I am talking about. Do we value our lives above all of our possessions, and can we be content with what we have instead of always seeking for more stuff and more experiences? When we get to that point in our lives, we can have true peace and rest, and we can focus on other people, as well as the eternal things in life. That is what the Lord wants for all of us, not just Jeremiah.
Stop and think about your life as a prize from God. If you don't have anything else, you have a great reward from the Lord of Lords. Cherish it, and enjoy living for Him and doing His will as long as you are on this earth. That is the greatest life anyone can experience.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 47-49.
