Waiting for God's Justice
Waiting is difficult for most of us. Waiting for justice can be very difficult and frustrating. However, God is the only Righteous Judge, who sees all things and always makes the right judgment for every situation. Job's friends thought that Job was wrong to want to approach God and ask Him why all of the suffering had come upon him. They thought Job had sinned, and He was deluded when he said he was righteous before God. That was not true, at all. However, Job was having to wait for God to show him justice. (Job 35:13,14) The wait made Job's pain even more difficult to bear. Let's consider what Elihu told Job, because it does contain some truth for all of us.
God does not listen to empty talk. We can't talk God into anything. We can't pull the wool over His eyes. If we are just trying to fast talk our way out of trouble, He sees right through our empty talk, and He makes no response. It is better to simply pray and pour out our hearts to God asking for mercy than it is to try to sway God will empty arguments.
As we look for justice in our lives, sometimes we can't see God working, and we do not hear from Him. The silence is hard, but it should cause us to trust Him. He is never late, but He is never early either. Therefore, we can be assured that God's justice is before Him, and our place is to wait for His timing to show us His justice. We need not try to hurry God. We just wait for Him, knowing His justice is always appropriate. Therefore, we do not have anything to worry about, just much to pray about as we wait.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 36-38.
