Rejoice and Shout for Joy!

God's Word contains many commands for His people to rejoice and to be joyful in the Lord. David seemed to recognize this important practice as much as anyone ever has. (Psalm 5:11) We need to hear what God inspired David to write for us, because we have a tendency to fail in this area.

All believers are commanded to rejoice and to rejoice consistently. It is such a blessing to be forgiven our sins and to belong to the Lord. Why would we not rejoice in Him? What reason could we have to disobey this worthy command? Remember, the Lord defends us, so who can harm us without His permission? That reality ought  to cause us to shout for joy daily. Our love relationship with God should bring joy to our hearts, so that we live in His joy. Let me just say it this way, joy and rejoicing of all sorts ought to characterize the lives of believers, so that when others see us or think of us, they think of our joyfulness.

So, how much do you rejoice? Take time to consider this question, so that you can make sure and obey God's command and give others a positive picture of the joy of the Lord. What better advertisement for trusting Christ and being a Christian could there be?

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 6-9.
