Blessed By Abundant Restoration
Here we finish the story of Job. The ending is far better than the beginning. After being tried in the fire, Job came out knowing God more intimately, and God blessed the end of his life more than the beginning. (Job 42:12,13,16) This shows the faithfulness and power of God toward His obedient children who love Him with all of their heart.
After God took all of Job's livestock, and his children away in one day, and then took his health from him in another day, God abundantly restored Jacob's possessions and family, as well as his health. God restored twice as many livestock and gave him back 7 sons and 3 daughters. However, the icing on the cake was that he lived twice as long as he had lived before he was afflicted, too. This enabled him to see his children's children for four generations. What a blessing! God is so good to us.
Just think, if Job would have done what his wife said, so that he cursed God, he would have missed all of this. If he had given up, and simply quit trusting God, he would not have seen these blessings. Therefore, I would affirm to all of us that Job's sufferings were worth it all. He proved to Satan that there were people who loved God and remained faithful, even in the worst of circumstances. He gave a powerful witness to his friends, for whom he prayed, and they were not punished for their falsehoods about him. In fact, Job became a testimony to the entire world and every generation since then, as they hear of His loyal faith in God and his Redeemer. May we all persevere through the trails of life, so that we may be a testimony of faithfulness and have the smile of God upon us, as well.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 3-5.
