The Lord Will Fight For You

King Jehoshaphat called together all of the people of Judah and Jerusalem to pray and fast, because a huge enemy from Ammon, Moab, and Seir was coming against them. He knew the Lord was their only hope. After much prayer, the Spirit came upon Jahaziel, and he delivered God's answer to them. The Lord told them that they would not need to fight in this battle, because the Lord was with them, and He would fight for them. (II Chronicles 20:17) The next day the people went out to the battle with the choir in the front, because they trusted what God had said completely. As they sang and praised the Lord, God defeated all of their enemies by having them fight themselves.

Two great lessons come from this historical account. We do not have to fight all of the battles of life. Sometimes, as we seek the Lord, He shows us that the battle belongs to Him, so He will fight for us. When that happens, we must trust what He has said, so that we begin to praise Him, and we watch what He does before us. This is a glorious way that God shows us His power and grace. Therefore, whenever a problem arises, we must be quick to seek the Lord, listen very carefully, and do whatever He says in faith. That way many times, we too, can stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. When God fights for us, we need to give Him all of the praise before, during, and after the battle.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 22-24.
