Being Honest With God
Too many people try to conceal their sins and hide their weaknesses from the Lord. That never brings a good conclusion. The sins multiply and the weaknesses get worse, not better. The solution is to be honest with the Lord, since He is the only One who can forgive sins and deliver us. Israel finally came to that point after the death of Gideon and his son, Abimelech. They were in bondage, and they needed deliverance. (Judges 10:15) When they finally became honest with God, He responded. Look at what they did.
First, they admitted they had sinned. They were honest and humble in that admission of guilt. We know that, because the next thing they told God was to do whatever seemed best to Him. They totally entrusted themselves to the Lord, realizing they deserved punishment and leaving the extent of that punishment in His hands. Finally, they begged for deliverance. They knew they were powerless to deliver themselves, and they called on the Only One who could grant them deliverance.
Are you ready to be that honest with the Lord? Will you admit your sin, cast yourself upon His mercy, and cry out for deliverance? If you will, He is ready to come to you in power to change your life and lead you in serving Him alone.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Judges 11-13.
