Bought At A Price
If you have every bought a house, you know that it is a major purchase. Most of us hope to live in the house for many years and to be happy living there. That is why we are willing to pay a lot of money for the house in which we are to live. As believers, we have been bought by Jesus Christ. He paid the ultimate price for us, His blood and His life. Therefore, we belong to Him once we trust Him as Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit comes to live in us, so our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. (I Corinthians 6:19,20) That is why we should seek to glorify God in our body and our spirit.
Since the wrong things we do separate us from God, and since we have brought shame on ourselves because of our actions, Jesus had to die for us to pay for the sins and to remove the shame. He took the punishment for our sins, and He took our shame upon Himself on the Cross. Then, His blood paid the price for our sins, and His humiliating death took care of the shame. Since Jesus did all of this, we can become right with God by trusting Him in faith. He is Lord, but He became the Savior by dying for us, even though He never sinned or brought shame on himself or His family. He did this out of love for us.
When we trust Him our lives are transformed by His power. We become children of God. We have the Holy Spirit in us to empower us and guide us. We are His, and we are to live for Him and not for ourselves. His will for us is much better than what we would do, because He knows us, and He wants us to be very happy and fulfilled. That does not mean that we are always happy, or that we do not have any problems. It means He is always with us, and He makes us like Jesus as we serve Him. Then, He takes us to heaven for eternity. That is why it is wonderful to be the residence of God, and to glorify Him in all we do, instead of glorifying ourselves.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Corinthians 9-11.
