Where is My Honor and Reverence?

Most of us would say that we honor and reverence God. The question is, "Where is your honor and reverence for God?" The people of Malachi's day said the same thing, but God was not pleased with them, because He could not see any honor or reverence from them. (Malachi 1:6) We need to make sure we do not commit the same sin.

Ask yourself, "Where is my honor for the Lord?" Do you put Him first in your life in all things? Do your words honor the Lord? Do you honor Him with your money and your time? See what I mean. If we honor God, we must be showing that honor in tangible ways.

Ask yourself, "Where is my reverence for the Lord?" Is your worship sincere so you worship Him in Spirit and in truth? Do you bow your heart before Him to pray about everything? Do you always speak the name of God in a reverent and respectful way? If you do not do these things, how are you showing reverence for God.

It could be that you are despising His name as the priests in Malachi's day did when their worship was insincere and their words were complaining against God. Watch out. We can drift away from God, so that we do not honor and reverence Him, even though we believe in Him. That is a serious sinful condition that we must remedy quickly and completely.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Matthew 1-3.
