Not by Might Nor by Power, but by My Spirit

Life is hard. Everyone wants to get ahead. We want to accomplish the things that will bring happiness and security for us and our families. The same was true when the people of God returned to Jerusalem from 70 years of exile in Babylon. Everything was in shambles, and they had to rebuild the Temple, the city walls, and their homes. Zerubbabel was the governor of the people. The prophet Zechariah was given the word of the Lord for the governor that we all need to understand.

People think that by hard work and a lot of effort we can build a life that is fantastic and secure. God says, "no." It is not by human might or power that this can be done. It is by the Spirit of the Living God. Just think about it. Our might and power are limited. God's power is unlimited. He can do anything. Our knowledge is limited. God's knowledge is complete. Our vision into the future is extremely limited. God sees everything from the beginning to the end, because He is not bound by time and space. Wouldn't you think that His Spirit could do a far better job of building a life than your might and power? I am very confident that it is only by His Spirit that anything worthwhile and lasting can be accomplished.

Surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ today. He loves you so much that He died to pay for your sins, and to set you free. Turn from your way and trust Him, so His Spirit can indwell you; and He will guide you and empower you to have eternal, abundant life.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Zechariah 5-7.
