Declaring God's Glory to the Gentiles
Even though God started His plan of salvation through the descendants of Abraham, the Jewish people, He always planned to include all nations. In fact, the Jews were to be a witness to the Gentiles, so that they could come to the Lord. However, they failed to follow the Lord, and they failed to show the Gentiles the way to the Lord. Therefore, Jesus sent His disciples to declare His glory to the Gentiles, as well as the Jews. (Isaiah 66:18,19) The goal is for all to hear the Good News of His salvation and trust Him.
Christians are sent to the "nations." That word means a people group with the same language and culture, even if they do not have a country of their own. God wants all of them to see His glory, His greatness and His love that would give Himself for them on the Cross to save them. That is our mission, the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18-20) Whether we are in Stockbridge or around the world, we are surrounded by people of different people groups, and it is up to us to declare God's glory to them. When we do, some will be saved, and we will be together with them in heaven one day, worshiping around the throne of God. (Revelation 7:9,10) That is the culmination of God's plan of the ages, and we are privileged to be a part of it.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 1-3.
