The Pitfalls of Pride
Pride causes us a lot of problems. One of the main things is that pride leads us to do things that bring shame on us and our families. (Proverbs 11:2) However, there is a solution to this. Let's see what the Lord told us through Solomon.
Pride leads us to think we can handle things. It gives us a higher view of our abilities than we ought to have, and it makes us feel superior to others. All of this causes us not to listen to God's wisdom, so we end up doing something foolish or embarrassing. This makes people look down on us and brings shame on us. It is a very terrible feeling for anyone.
The solution is humility. If we humble ourselves before the Lord, we will listen to Him and His wisdom, instead of thinking we know what is right. Then, we can do the right thing and bring honor on ourselves and our families. This is what God intends for us. Please, remember that Jesus is our example in this area. He was very humble. (Philippians 2:5-11) He also had great wisdom and never sinned. We will never be perfect, but the more we are humble like Jesus, the less shame we will bring upon ourselves.
