Confidence in an Unfaithful Person
We all have to put confidence in other people all of the time for various reasons. It could be family, school, church, or work. Most of the time, all is well, because the other person is faithful to do the right thing and fulfill their responsibilities. However, when times of trouble come, then we see who is really going to be faithful. Putting our confidence in an unfaithful person in times of trouble causes us all kinds of pain and difficulty. (Proverbs 25:19) Let's consider this verse.
Have you ever had a bad tooth or a foot out of joint? That is what it is like to put confidence in an unfaithful person in times of trouble. A bad tooth brings much pain, but it also makes it hard to eat. Therefore, we suffer from under-nourishment and terrible pain, until the tooth is dealt with. A foot out of joint is equally as painful, and we can't walk, or we can barely walk. That impedes us from being able to accomplish much. See how that fits with having confidence in an unfaithful person. We have all kinds of heartache or even worse pain when they fail us, and whatever we were trying to accomplish is stopped or greatly slowed down. Therefore, we must pick carefully when we choose people to be in places of responsibility or we delegate responsibility to to others. We must only pick those who will be faithful to do the right thing, even if it is difficult.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 26-28.
