A Losing Proposition
People think they are smart, and people think they are strong. Some people even think they are smart and strong. However, no one is a match for God in either category.(Job 9:4) The problem is that we often talk ourselves into believing that we can harden ourselves against God and prosper. It never happens that way.
When God leads us to pray, we can disobey. We can even think we have a good reason not to pray. That doesn't change anything. When we fail to follow the clear teachings of the Word of God on worship, witnessing, stewardship, Bible study, fellowship, etc., we are hardening ourselves against God. We are saying, "No," to God. To do this, as believers, we have to harden our hearts. That always harms us, and we will never prosper, because God can't lead us and bless us when we have hard hearts.
The road to prosperity in God's Kingdom is to have a soft heart that submits to God and doesn't say no. That is pretty simple, but it is hard because of our pride, which tells us we are smart and strong, so we can decide for ourselves and come out better. Believe me, God will not let that happen, or He would be promoting sin.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 13-15.
