Jesus' Unhurried Time

I write this blog to encourage believers to have a daily "unhurried time" with the Lord. It is much more than a time of Bible study or a short prayer. It is a time to meet with the Lord Himself to talk through His will for us for that day. I believe this is essential for believers to be effective in their lives. Why do I believe that? Jesus needed it, so we need it even more.(Mark 1:35)

After a long day of ministry, Jesus got up a "long while" before daylight. Was he tired? I would imagine he was tired, because He was 100% human. Was it hard for Him to get up at that hour? It was the same challenge we have. However, He knew it was necessary. He lived a life that was totally dependent on hearing from the Father and doing His will, so how could He accomplish that in any other way? I do not think there was one for Jesus, and I do not think there is one for us either.

Jesus went to a solitary place, so that He was alone with the Father. It was a quiet place away from the noises of life. He prayed. He spent time talking with the Father about His day. How do we know that? The disciples came to find Him and to encourage Him to get back to the city and engage more people in ministry there, since He had such a crowd the day before. However, Jesus had heard from the Father, and He told them it was time to go to other cities and villages to do the same thing. If Jesus had gone back, He would have been out of God's will.

Are you glad that Jesus did the will of the Father just right, so that He communicated everything well, and He died for our sins and rose again, so we can have salvation and the abundant life? All of that could not have happened, if Jesus did not spent a daily time with the Father, so that He could fully follow Him. Are people dependent on us to do the will of the Father, so that we communicate well, and do what He has set out for us? Yes, they are.(Ephesians 2:10) It will not happen, if we do not have that unhurried time each day. Once we learn this practice of Jesus, we will all find it is the joy and delight of our day, and we will wonder how we ever lived without it.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Mark 2-4.
