God Can

In our Good News Club for the children at Cotton Indian Elementary School we have what we call the God Can. It is a plastic coffee can with a slit in the top. The children can write prayer requests on pieces of paper and put them in the can, so we can pray for them during our prayer time. On the outside it says "God Can." We teach the children a valuable lesson that way. It was the same lesson Jesus taught His disciples after He encountered the rich, young ruler.(Mark 10:27) We all need to remember this truth all the time.

We tell the children that we call it the God Can for two reasons. It is a can in which we put our prayer requests for God. Also, "God Can" Do Anything. When we pray, we always need to trust that God is able to do anything, except the wrong thing. He can do what is impossible for people. In fact, all things are possible with God.

It defeats the reason we are praying, if we do not believe He has the power and authority to answer our prayer. Since we are to pray in faith, or to pray believing for God to answer our prayers, we show our lack of faith if we doubt He can do it. In short, God is not limited. Our prayers will be hindered, if we do not believe God Can. This sounds simple, but it is really very profound. Do you believe God can do anything, except the wrong thing? If so, anything is possible, if you will pray and obey His will.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Mark 11-14.
