Thinking About God's Faithfulness
It is easy to concentrate on our problems and trials. Often, they scream so loudly that we forget to consider how God has been faithful to us. We do not stop to think, we just react to situations. The Psalmist did not fall into that pit.(Psalm 48:9) Let's plan some time to think regularly about how God has taken care of us.
We have many blessings that we miss each day, because we are in a hurry. We fail to see the simple things that God does every day to sustain us, because they come every day. We even fail to attribute the great things that happen to us to Him sometimes, because we think we accomplished them by ourselves. That is never true. Anything we have done, we have been able to do because of how God created us. Anything we have came from Him.
If we fail to think about life, we will be poorer for it. If we fail to think about God's faithfulness, we will miss what life is all about. The word lovingkindness means "covenant faithfulness." God always keeps His promises. He never fails to do the right thing. We are the ones who fail. Let's not blame our problems on God. After all, He loved us so much that He would become a man and die for us that we might have abundant, eternal life. If He did that, why would He not do all of the lesser things to take care of us? Think about it.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 50-52.
