God's Grace and Compassion

If it was not for God's grace and compassion toward us, we would all be lost and without hope. Our sin separates us from God, but God was gracious and compassionate to send Christ to die for us, so that we could be reconciled to God through His blood. Even after we are saved from our sins, we still sin, but God is gracious and compassionate toward us, so that if we confess our sins, He sends them away and cleanses us, so that we can walk with Him closely every day. Israel experienced His grace and compassion, even though they sinned.(II Kings 13:23) We need to thank God daily that He is a longsuffering God of grace and compassion.

This is not a license to sin. It does not mean that we can sin, and then presume that God will automatically forgive us. He is just and holy, too. He will punish sin. However, He knows our human nature, our weaknesses and strengths. He knows just what we need, and He loves us so much that He gives us more than we deserve. This is especially true when He makes a covenant like He did with Israel and like He does with us when we trust Christ as Lord and Savior. He always honors His side of the covenant and goes the extra mile because of His grace and compassion. Let's all take some time today to praise Him for being gracious and compassionate toward us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 14-17.
