You Can't Fool God
No one can pull the wool over God's eyes and get away with not living in sincerity before Him. He knows every heart perfectly. He knows what we are sowing in our lives. If we are listening to the flesh and doing what our human nature tells us to do, we will reap corruption. However, if we listen to the Spirit and do what He says, we will reap everlasting life.(Galatians 6:7,8) It is really very simple. What are you planting? You will get a harvest of what plant.
If we are constantly wanting our way, and our desire is to fulfill our human desires, we are following the flesh. We are planting fleshly things in our hearts. The flesh only produces death and corruption. It might be fun for a while, but when the crops are harvested, there is much pain and loss.
However, if we listen to the Spirit and sincerely put our trust in the Lord, so that we do what the Spirit leads us to do, we have a crop of everlasting life. That does not mean we are saved by works.(Ephesians 2:8,9) Everlasting life is a quality of life that is produced by trusting the Lord and being obedient. After all, faith is being obedient. It is trusting someone enough to do what they say. When we trust the Spirit and do what He says, no matter what the flesh wants, we have real life.
So, what are you planting? You can tell by what you are reaping. God makes sure of that.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ephesians 3-5.
