What To Pray

Sometimes, we want to pray, but we do not know what to pray. Have you had that problem? This is especially true when we intercede for other people. Of course, we ask the Lord to bless them or heal them, but what else should we pray? I believe that is why we have prayers recorded in the Bible.(Colossians 1:9-12) It is God's inspired Word, so the prayers show us what God wants us to pray.

When Paul prayed for the believers in Colosse, he was very specific:

  1. He prayed that they would be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.
  2. He prayed that they would live lives worthy of the Lord being fully pleasing to Him, and being fruitful in every good work.
  3. He prayed that they would be constantly increasing in the knowledge of God.
  4. He prayed for them to be strengthened with all kinds of power by receiving God's power, so they could have patience and long-suffering with joy.
  5. He prayed that they would be thankful to God constantly for saving them and giving them the inheritance of being saints.
Now, that is just one Bible prayer. There are many of them from which we can learn what to pray. I want to encourage all of us to use the Scriptural prayers to pray specifically, and I know God will be pleased to answer what He inspired others to write down for us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Colossians 2-4.
