Christmas is Love

Christmas is God showing us His great love for us by preparing to give us the greatest gift of all. It is also the time for us to love each other in the way God loves us.(I John 4:9-11) I pray that love will be abundant in all you do this Christmas and all year long.

Jesus came to earth as a baby, because He loved us. He knew we could not forgive our own sins, so He came to provide forgiveness and salvation from our sins. His coming was love, because He put our needs ahead of His well being. His eventual death and resurrection accomplished all that God required for our salvation to be provided. There is no greater love than this in the universe. Even though Jesus accomplished the propitiation for our sins, we still have to receive His gift by putting our trust in Him as Lord. It is not any different from any other gift you get this Christmas, you must reach out and receive the gift for yourself. If the gift is left lying under the tree, it has been provided but never received.(John 1:12)

The lesson we all need to learn from Christmas is that if God loves us that much, we should love each other the same way. We are only human, but once we know Jesus as Lord, He comes to reside in us, so we have His love. We must allow His love to flow to others, instead of us loving them in a human way. God's love is unconditional and complete. Jesus came for everyone. He died for everyone. He loves those who reject Him. He loves His enemies. We should love that way, so all the world will see Jesus in us. That is why Christmas is love.

Tomorrow, I intend to read III John, Jude, and Revelation 1.
