The Only God Who Acts
The God of the Bible is the Only God. He is the Only God who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.(Isaiah 64:4) This is certain because we have heard Him speak to us, and some people have even seen Him. Jesus came as God in a body to show us the Father. Many people both heard and saw Him during His time on earth. We have many evidences that God is alive and well in the Bible and from history.
This morning I want to focus in on your life. When was the last time you heard Him speak to you or saw Him act in your life? Your answer is directly tied to how you are waiting for Him. The word "wait" is full of meaning. It means to expect Him to speak and act. This strongly implies faith. How can you expect someone to do something, if you do not believe in them or have faith in them? Therefore, faith comes first, then expectation. Once you have trusted Christ as Lord, you then, pray waiting for God's response to you. That is when you will hear from Him. Then, as He reveals Himself, He will show you how He will act on your behalf, and as you continue to trust, you will see that come to reality.
God is a Person. He relates to us in a personal way. Yes, we have evidence of Him from history, but we can have that evidence by our relationship with Him today, as we wait on Him and see Him act for us. I pray that will be true in each of our lives every day.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 65-66 and Jeremiah 1-2.
