God's Steadfast Love

I must confess that I can't comprehend the loving connection between a nursing mother and her child. It is a powerful bond that exceeds anything I have experienced as a man. It seems the slightest groan of the baby will wake her at night, and she has a sixth sense about what the baby needs. God loves us even more than this.(Isaiah 49:15) In fact, there is more chance that a nursing mother would forget and neglect her child than that God would forget us and stop loving us.

I know that when we people have troubles they are tempted to think that God does not love them. They are wrong. I know that when our prayers are not answered quickly and just like we want them answered, we are tempted to ask God why He doesn't care about us. That is the wrong way to react. God cares deeply. However, in the same way that nursing mother has to lay that child in bed to learn to go to sleep on his own, and it causes the child to cry for his mother, the Lord allows pain, so we can grow. In the same way that the mother teaches her child "no" because the child wants the wrong thing, so the Lord has to say no to us in love. He never stops loving and caring. We must not doubt His love for us at all times of life.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 50-52.
