Fulfilling God's Purpose
God is the one who is working out His purpose to bring an end to this world by preparing everything for the return of Christ. It will all work out as He desires, because He is able to lead people to accomplish His purposes, even without forcing them. Right now, God is leading unbelievers and believers, so that there will be a show down at the battle of Armageddon when Jesus returns to this earth to reign.(Revelation 17:16,17) The book of Revelation is symbolic in its presentation of the facts, but it seems to be clear what the symbols represent.
During the seven years of the Tribulation time as God is pouring out His plagues on those who reject Him and the saints are being killed for trusting Christ, a false church (the Great Harlot) will be used by the Anti-Christ (the beast) to do his will. This false church will promote the killing of all true believers and lead the world in a religion to make people feel better. At the same time there will be 10 leaders (the ten horns) who are brought together to support the Anti-Christ. Eventually, they will destroy the false church and give all of their support to the kingdom of the Anti-Christ. Then, they will be unified in making war against the Lamb. (Jesus and all the saints) (Revelation 17:14) The battle of Armageddon just outside of Jerusalem will be the conclusion of that war, and Jesus will defeat the huge armies assembled there without firing a shot. Then, He will set up His Kingdom from Jerusalem.
Everything that is happening today with the crises developing in the affairs of the world show us that God is working His purpose to this end. We all need to be ready, as we see these things approaching. When we know Christ as Lord of our lives, and we walk with Him in the Spirit every day, we are ready for anything that may happen around us or to us.
