They Have Loved To Wander
How do we know for sure we are saved from our sins and Jesus is our Lord and Savior? The main thing is that we see changes in our lives that can only be explained because God has made us a new creature, and the Holy Spirit is guiding us and empowering us to be more like Jesus. That is why what Jeremiah was told to tell God's people is so instructive.(Jeremiah 14:10) If we love to wander from the Lord and His will, and we do not restrain our feet from going in the wrong ways, we are probably not a believer, and we are going to receive the full weight of God's punishment.
I do not want to ever be judgmental. I know that only God knows our hearts. However, all of the warnings are in the Bible for a reason. God wants us to make sure we belong to Him.(I John 5:13) He doesn't want us to be fooled into thinking we are a believer when we aren't. Satan can do that, you know. Therefore, I urge all of us to check our hearts. Do we love to wander? Do we not want to restrain our feet? If so, watch out and pray. Ask God to show you the problem, because it is a serious one.
Life is so much better when we love to run closer to the Lord. It is so satisfying when we never want to wander, but our "want to" is changed to what He wants. Then, we find it a joy to restrain our feet, because we love Him, and we want to be like Jesus; we want to keep His commands out of that love. That is the life God has designed for every believer, and it is what He desires for everyone to experience. It is real freedom and joy in Christ.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 15-17.
