Our Mission
Isaiah was shown many things about the ministry of Jesus. Once when Jesus was describing His mission on this earth He quoted Isaiah 61:1. It does us well to remember that His mission becomes our mission when He becomes our Lord, and we follow Him, as His disciples.
God sends us forth in the power of His Spirit to do His will. We should never try to do His work in our own intellect and ability. It will never work. When God sends us out, He empowers us to accomplish His will.
We need to have the same heart that God has for those around us. God sees the hurting and afflicted around us. We must never forget to reach out with compassion to the poor, both those who have no money and those who are poor in spirit. A millionaire can be a very poor person, too. There are brokenhearted people all around us. Sometimes, they are very needy, but they are always worth our time and energy. Many people are bound by sin, by addictions, and by past hurts. Christ has sent us to proclaim their liberty in Him. He is the only one who can set them free eternally.
This is our mission, and if we don't do it, many people will miss so much. They could even miss eternity in Heaven with the Lord. We must not fail in what He has sent us and anointed us to do. Jesus did not fail, and neither will we, if we are faithful to go in the power and the Spirit of the Lord.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 64-66.
