Finding The Lord
Finding the Lord is not as easy as we might think it would be at times. In fact, sometimes it can be difficult. It is not that He doesn't care. However, He is the Lord, and we come to Him on His terms and not on our own terms.(Isaiah 55:6)
God is a person. He has feelings, and He has a will. He knows what is best for us, and He lovingly leads us in the right ways. When we reject Him, it hurts Him. When we hurt Him enough by saying no and going our own way, He lets us alone. He goes to help the people who are humble and listening to Him. Then, when we try to find Him, He is gone away. That is a terrible situation, but the Bible affirms this truth over and over.
Jesus is Lord. He is not our servant. He does not have to jump when we ask Him. We are to jump when He asks us. We must not get this relationship backwards. It never works that way. We come to Him when He draws us, or we don't come at all. Sometimes, we miss an opportunity, and it is gone forever. Therefore, we must keep our hearts sensitive to His call. When He calls, make it a priority to listen and to respond.
God is merciful, so He gives us multiple chances to seek Him, but those chances are not unlimited. We must not presume upon His grace and mercy.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 58-60.
