Wait on the Lord
Isaiah 40:31 has to be one of the most notable verses in the whole Bible. It is a comfort to me and to many people. Mostly, it is a reminder to slow down and seek the Lord. If we are too busy for Him, we are way too busy.
What can you do without the Lord? Nothing. Who is in control of everything? He is. He is eternal. We are very temporal. Our life is like a vapor, or like grass that grows up and then withers away quickly. How can we have strength to live our short lives? Our strength comes from Him, and we receive it when we wait on Him.
To wait on God is to be looking for Him all of the time in an active way. It is to expect Him to speak and to direct and to provide. It is an action, not just being passive. It is praying, reading His Word, spending time with Him. When we do those things, we have strength for every day and everything we need to do. We have His directions, which always take us in the best route for life. We have His blessings. What a way to live!
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 41-43.
