What We Do Matters To God
Isaiah was a very effective Prophet of God for many years. His book is long and filled with insights about how to be right with God. As we start reading his messages from the Lord, we see that he made one thing perfectly clear. It is not what we say we believe that counts with God. It is what we do.(Isaiah 3:10,11)
When we act the way God wants us to act, we receive the fruit of our righteous actions. God blesses us, so that our lives go well. This is true as we follow the Lord obediently over a long period of time, and we live it out consistently. Yes, we will have trials and set backs at times. Those are for our good, as well. The main thing to remember is that God causes our righteous actions to bear fruit in our lives.
On the other hand, when we do not act righteously, but wickedly, we receive His reward for our sins. This is in the form of punishment, so that our lives do not go well. God is trying to eliminate our wrong behavior and to get us to listen to Him about how we should live. It is up to us.
Therefore, do we believe in God? If so, we will be praying people who daily read our Bibles and live out His commands. We will be serving Him and showing others the way to Him. We will see the fruit of our actions. If we say we believe, but we do not act on our beliefs, we do not really believe, so we receive the punishment for our wickedness.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 4-7.
