My Strength and My Portion Forever

The longer we live the more we realize that our flesh and our hearts will fail us.(Psalm 73:26) It becomes obvious that any time we depend on our human strength or intellect we fail to live up to God's standard. Also, we realize that our bodies grow weaker with each passing year. Therefore, to succeed we have to find the source of eternal strength, the Lord.

Failure is painful, but it is helpful, too. Failure convinces us of our limitations. When we fail, God uses those experiences to draw us to Him. He reveals Himself as our eternal strength and portion. Just think of it. We have a way to be strong and to have what we need to cope with life forever. That is how much He cares for us.

The key is for us to submit to Him by admitting our inability to live up to His standard physically or spiritually. Then, we put our trust in Christ as Lord of our lives, and we ask Him to forgive our sins. Once we are forgiven, all of the resources of God are at our disposal. We are joint-heirs with Christ. Therefore, whenever we need strength or God's provision, we can have it, if we are living for Him and in His will. At the end of our lives we get to go to the perfect place called heaven to live with him forever. We have a hard time understanding that until we trust Christ, and we feel His strength and power. However, it is very real, and God wants all of us to experience Him as our strength and portion forever.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 75-77.
