The Banner of Truth
Psalm 60:4 tells us that God has given a banner to those who fear Him that it might be displayed because of the truth. In a world that doesn't know if it is possible to know truth and where many have already rejected the truth this is a very important verse for believers to grasp. We are the ones to display the truth. We are to hold it up like a banner held by an army going to war. This banner is our standard. It shows everyone who we are.
In the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5 Jesus said the same thing when He told His disciples they were the light of the world and the salt of the earth. If we do not stand for truth and preserve it, no one will. The truth will be lost in the midst of the lies of Satan, which have been bought by this world. When we realize that Jesus is the Truth, it becomes even more important to display the truth.(John 14:6) No one can know Jesus unless they submit to Him as Truth.
Let's hold up the banner and advance in the power of the Spirit, so all can see God's truth in what we do and say.
