Losing Your Song
It was a very serious situation when the psalmist of Israel, King David, lost his song. Music was such a huge part of his life and his relationship with God. He played music, wrote music, and sang. However, when we read Psalm 51, he tells us that he needed the Lord to "open my lips" so he could sing again. David lost his joy, and he needed God to restore it.(Psalm 51:12) Have you ever lost the joy of your salvation? It is important to get it back as soon as possible, isn't it?
David had sinned. His sin brought a wall between him and God until it was forgiven. In Psalm 51 David confessed his sin, so he could be forgiven and his joy restored. He was brokenhearted over his sin. He saw the terrible consequences after the prophet, Nathan, confronted him. David was ready to do whatever it took to be forgiven and cleansed. We have to do the same things to have our joy restored and to get our song back.(I John 1:9)
I pray that we can all learn from David's experience and his personal testimony in Psalm 51, so we will not lose our song, but stay in constant fellowship with the Lord and praise Him continually as we go.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalm 52-54.
