Available Power

It is simply wrong for any believer to suffer from a lack of power to do God's will. This is a major problem from my perspective, though. Christians feel unable to do God's will. They feel unequipped and too weak spiritually. This is true because they misunderstand the Holy Spirit's power in their lives.

The virgin Mary was a humble, believing Jewish teenager, who experienced the power of God to overshadow her, so that she conceived and brought forth the sinless Son of God, Jesus Christ. She is not the exception, but an example of what the Spirit can do for a life fully submitted to Him and the will of God like Mary. Read it for yourself in Luke 1:26. Nothing is impossible with God, because of the Spirit's power, which is available to every believer.

Paul's prayer in Ephesians 1 has another example. He reveals to us that the same power that God worked in Jesus to raise Him from the dead is available to work in us, if we prayer earnestly to have it and to experience the Lord. This is the power of the Spirit. Now that every Christian has the Spirit living in us, we can have this power to do anything God wills for us.

The Spirit does not force Himself on us. We must be submitted to Him like Mary, and we must be praying for His power like Paul. Then, as we obey, we will see the marvelous power of the Spirit unleashed in our lives. It is available, but it may not be active. The key to releasing this available power is us. God is ready, willing, and able.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Thessalonians 1-3.
