Truth Or Tradition

It is usually easier to go with tradition than to search for the truth. What I mean by tradition here is the way something has been done for a long time or what someone has believed for a long time. People get comfortable with their traditions. They get set in their ways. I think they even feel scared. They fear what it will mean if they find that their traditions are wrong. It is a complicated situation that Satan uses to his advantage to keep people locked into a lie.

Every tradition may or may not contain some truth. However, truth is pure. If we find the truth, it is not mixed with any falsehood. We should want to do whatever it takes to know the truth, because the truth is freeing. When we know the truth we are set from from superstition and unfulfilling beliefs. When we know the truth we see things the way God designed them.

Therefore, the unbridled search for truth leads us to Jesus, who is the Truth and who came to show us God's truth in human flesh. Just think of all of the people in the world who will miss Jesus because they are comfortable in their traditions, and they do not want to change. It is a tragic situation, but Christians are here to share the truth, so that there is a possibility for these people to see truth and come to Christ. I pray that we will be good bearers of truth in what we say and what we do.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 45-47.
