A Sad State Of Affairs
As I continued reading through I Samuel this morning, I came to verse 6 in chapter 28. It struck me as a very sad verse. God would not answer Saul's prayers. He had tried different ways to hear from God to no avail. Then, to top it off he thought the best thing to do was to go to a "medium" or a witch to have a seance, so he could contact Samuel and ask him what to do. That may be a clue as to why God would not answer him, don't you think?
Think about it this way. God is love. He loves everyone in the world. He is seeking to reveal Himself to everyone, so He can draw them to put their faith in Him. He loves for people to pray to him. Usually, that shows they are wanting to know Him or His will. However, some people have rejected God. He has made Himself plain to them, but they have gone their own way. They only want to do things their way. When God sees that kind of heart in a person, He does not answer their prayers. That is the state Saul was in. I pray none of us ever gets in that sad state.
When Saul learned the answer to His prayer. He was not pleased to hear what God had to say. Still, he did not repent of his sin and rebellion. He marched to his death. Please, do not follow the path of Saul. Turn to Jesus. He is ready to hear your prayer and change your life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Samuel 31 and II Samuel 1-2.
March 22 – I Corinthians 3:5-10
Ask God to give us a harvest of lost souls coming to Christ in addition to reviving the church. Ask God to show you how to prepare those around you who don’t know Christ, so they will come to Him.
