The Sign of a Disciple
Jesus made one thing very clear to His disciples before He left this world to return to Heaven. He told them that one thing would distinguish them as His disciples before all men. That one thing is love. (John 13:34-35)
Of course, there are other characteristics of a disciple of Jesus. However, this sign is for all to see. Those who need to know Jesus as Lord and Savior should be overwhelmed by our love for each other and for them.
Often Christians are known for what we are against. We have to be against what God is against, but that should not be the main image we project. We should be known for our love. Our love should be different, because we are to love as Jesus loves. When Jesus was on earth everyone except the religious leaders were drawn to Him because of His love. It should be the same for us today. Then, the world would be much more likely to come to Jesus in repentance and faith.
Tomorrow, I intend to read John 14-16.
