The PRC Banquet

This evening Chris and I attended the Pregnancy Resource Center of Henry County's fundraising banquet. Since I am privileged to be on the board, I have been praying and helping to prepare for it for months. It was wonderful to see God bless the efforts of everyone involved and to answer our prayers. It was a very inspiring and challenging time.

The thing that spoke to my heart was a little different, though. The speaker, Shawn Carney, kept reminding us that abortion is a local problem, and the solution will come from the local community, too. It was then that I stopped to look over the crowd of over 300 people in the room. What I saw was many common people, who might never be known for their efforts to support life, but they were the ones who were willing to come and to give toward that goal. What a blessing to think of what God can do through ordinary people committed to His causes.

All of us should be committed to our church families. The church comes first because it is the Body of Christ. Most of us have time to be involved in something else, too. We can make a difference in something for which we feel very passionate. Are you committed to your church? What other causes are you passionate about? If all of us common folks were involved, we could change America and the world in the power of Jesus Christ.

Tomorrow, I intend to read John 17-20.
