A Fruitful Life
We continued our study of John 15 this morning with 15 men in attendance at 5 AM. God spoke to us about abiding today. It became apparent to all of us that if we are not bearing fruit, it is because we are not abiding in Christ, and He in us. God desires for all of us to bear fruit. In fact, if we don't, there are serious consequences. Abiding is all about our relationship with Christ. It is living in Christ all the time. It is allowing Him to supply us with the power for all we need. The clincher was when we read again that without Him we can do nothing. What a sobering thought. Any time we try anything without Him, we are a failure. All of the rest of what we do is useless. Since that is the case, our lives should revolve around what Christ wants us to do. Then, we enables us to do it. If not, we can't do anything.
Think of all of the things we do as individuals that we do not consult with Christ about first. Consider the lack of fruit in most lives. That is the reason. We must begin to depend on Him for everything. In the church there should not be anything done that is not initiated by Christ and done by His power. That is why so much of our church ministry does not bear good fruit. We all need to hear John 15:5 over and over. Every day should be about abiding in Christ and obeying Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Samuel 14-15 and Luke 17:1-19.
