Consistent Diligence
It doesn't seem that very many people practice diligence any more. The way I am thinking of diligence is doing the right thing well over and over even though the results are not seen for months or years. Most people want to do a little work and get a reward very quickly. If that doesn't happen, they want to quit and try something else. That is not how life in this world works very often. Having a good life comes from consistent diligence.
The Bible shows us this truth. In fact, it commands us to do this. (Ecclesiastes 11:6) The Bible says that in the morning we should sow our seed, and in the evening we should not withhold our hand from planting more and doing the work. We should be consistently diligent because we do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or that both alike will be good. This is very wise for all of us, no matter our walk of life.
We all need to find out God's will for our lives. He is not hiding it from us. He wants us to know and do His will. However, we have to seek Him and listen with a heart to obey what He says to us. Then, once we know if we should be a farmer, a teacher, a lawyer, or some type of business person, we should be diligent to do our best consistently over a long period of time. We do this waiting to see how what we do will be effective.
God will bless us in our obedience and in our diligence to do His will consistently. Others will see it, too. They will see the benefits of our diligence, and it will help them to take up this practice. I heard a report yesterday that said some young people think being on a job 6 months is enough to show a new employer their diligence, so then, they change jobs. That is just the opposite of this reality. We will prosper when we do the right things for a long time.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ecclesiastes 12 and Song of Solomon 1-2.
