Not Too Strong for Us

I have noticed that the older I get the weaker I am getting. This is true even though I work out some every day, and I eat right. I don't plan to get into a fight with anyone, but if I did, I am afraid they would be too strong for me, and I would lose the fight. In life we come up against all kinds of forces, physical and spiritual. God is able to deliver us from them so that none of them are too strong for us.

The children of Israel experienced this as they fought against the cities on the east side of the Jordan River. (Deuteronomy 2:36) "From Aroer, which is on the bank of the River Arnon, and from the city that is in the ravine, as far as Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the Lord our God delivered all to us." There is a valuable lesson in this verse for all of us, as believers.

God has a wonderful plan for our life. Of course, He knows us, and He knows everything about us and the challenges we will face. He knows when we will trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior. From that day He has laid out the good works that we are to do, as we become more like Jesus and minister to others. (Ephesians 2:10) We should be praying every day for God to conform us to the image of Jesus and to show us what He has planned for us to do that day.

When we do that faithfully, God will speak to us and direct us in the way we should go. When we meet a challenge of any kind, God will give us the strength to overcome it. We never need to fear anything, as long as we are following His plan. The problems come when we don't follow the Lord and depend on Him. Then, we will run into forces too strong for us, and we will be defeated. Therefore, let's stay on track, trusting the Lord every day.
