God's Restoration of Israel
God has been working in the descendants of Abraham for over 4,000 years. He made a covenant with Abraham that was an eternal covenant. They were to be His people, and He would be their God, to bless them and to protect them. However, they were unfaithful to the Lord, and God had to punish them severely and destroy their land. That was not the end of His covenant, though.
Ezekiel 38-39 tell about how God is going to protect Israel from a massive invasion by the peoples of the north. I do not believe this has taken place yet, but it could happen soon. It will happen before Jesus comes back to reign on the earth for 1,000 years. (Ezekiel 39:29) God declared to Ezekiel and to His people that there will come a time when He will not hide His face from them any longer, and He will have poured out His Spirit on the house of Israel. That will be the ultimate fulfillment of His covenant with Abraham.
I know this is hard to imagine, but a day will come when the Jewish people turn to Jesus. I believe that will happen after the Rapture of the Church, and they see what God has done. Then, they will know that Jesus was and is the Messiah, so they will trust Him as Lord and Savior. All of this shows the faithfulness of God and His restoration of His people.
That is God's heart for every believer. Even when we rebel against God and go away from Him. He wants to restore us to Himself. He will punish us to bring us back to Him. Then, when we turn to Him with all our heart, He will pour out HIs Spirit on us. We will be right with Him and walk with Him once again. I pray that if you are far from God this will be a great encouragement to you.
