No Remedy

It is terrible when we are told that there is no cure for our health condition. It is so sad when we hear that there is no solution to a problem we are facing. When there is a conflict between two people or two groups, it is so discouraging to hear that there is no remedy to the strife. We never like to hear those words, but sometimes we find ourselves in those situations.

The people of Judah were conquered by the king of Babylon after God had done all He could do to draw the people back to Himself. (II Chronicles 36:16) They had continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose up against them, and until there was no remedy. This is a serious lesson for us all.

God loves all of us. He shows us His truth and His will in many ways. He is merciful when we sin, not punishing us as much as we deserve. However, when we continually ignore Him, or we actively rebel against His efforts, He has to do something to get our attention. Often, it is very painful.

All of us can listen to God's messengers and heed their instructions. We can read God's Word, the Bible. We can listen to prophets that the Lord sends to us. If we scoff at God, His Word, and His messengers, we will eventually reach a place where there is no remedy for us. God will pour out His anger, and there will be nothing we can do to stop it, no remedy. I pray that none of us will ever get to that point, but it is possible.
