Clothed in the Holy Spirit

People are very aware of our clothes. Our clothes make an impression on them. Most of us would not think about going to the store in our pajamas. We would take off our pajamas and put on our regular clothes before we leave the house. Our Spiritual clothes make a huge difference also. I wonder how many of us make sure we are clothed in the Holy Spirit before we go out for our day?

The people of Judah rebelled against the Lord when Jehoiada the priest died. He had been directing the king to honor the Lord, but the king went the wrong way at his death. (II Chronicles 24:20) Then, the Spirit of God covered Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada the priest like clothing; and he spoke the word of the Lord to the people. He asked them why they broke the commandments so that they did not prosper, and he told them the Lord abandoned them for their sins.

When we are clothed in the Holy Spirit, it makes a great difference in our life. We are able to hear from the Lord and do what we should do. We are able to discern what God is saying and pass it on to others who need instruction from God. Also, we can do all of this with boldness, because of the power of the Spirit. 

The opposite is also true. When we are not clothed in the Spirit, we are very prone to disobey the Lord and follow the flesh. When we do that, we have no power, and we do not prosper in our life. In fact, when we take off the Holy Spirit and put on the clothes of this world, God lets us go our own way, and His presence doesn't follow us. We are on our own to fight Satan and the flesh. That doesn't work, so let's get back to the Lord.
