Being Angry with God

Many times we could be tempted to be angry with God. This happens when God doesn't answer our prayers they way we want him to, or when He does something that we do not like or do not agree with. In any case we need to realize that being angry with God doesn't hurt God, but it does hurt us. It keeps us from being right with Him and enjoying His favor.

David became angry with God when he was bringing the Ark of God up to Jerusalem the first time. They were carrying the Ark on a cart, and Uzza had to put out his hand to keep it from tipping over at one point. God killed Uzza immediately. (I Chronicles 13:11) David became angry because of the Lord's outburst against Uzza; and he called that place Perez-uzza as it is to this day.

David thought God had done something wrong by killing Uzza, but it was David who did the wrong thing. God had made it clear that the Ark was only to be carried by Levites using poles, so no one would ever touch it. God is holy, so He had to give a severe punishment for breaking His law.

We shouldn't get angry with God, because it could be that we are doing something wrong that causes God to punish us. On the other hand we could be asking God for something against His will, so He can't grant our request without hurting us. Either way, God is doing the right thing, so we do not need to be angry. We need to trust His love and grace, knowing He always does the right thing.
