The Manna Ceased
God has a way of supplying our needs in the right way and at the right time. Sometimes He makes a miraculous provision for us. We get a check in the mail, or someone brings us just what we need unexpectedly. At other times, He provides in the normal ways. We work and are able to purchase what we need. Either way, we are blessed by God's provision.
That is just what God did for the people of Israel. In the wilderness they had the supernatural food called manna. (Joshua 5:12) Then, the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten some of the produce of the land of Canaan, so that the sons of Israel no longer had manna, but ate some of the yield of Canaan during that year. God is so good to provide for His people.
Manna was a food dropped from heaven in the mornings, so that the 2 million people who were in a desert wilderness could have tasty, nutritious food. It taught them to depend on the Lord each day and to follow His commands. I hope we have learned the same lessons. After all, Jesus taught us to pray, "Give us this day our daily bread." I pray that is our heartfelt plea every day.
Also, we need to be thankful for life and health and the ability to work to provide for our needs. All of those things come from the Lord, too. We should be praying for Him to show us what job to have and how to provide for ourselves and our families in the natural way, too. Both are great blessings from the Lord for which we should be very grateful.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 7-9.
