The Effects of God's Glory
It seems like every time we read in the Bible about an angel appearing to someone, the angel has to say, "Don't be afraid." It is not that angels are scary looking. It is because they glow with the glory of God, since they are in God's presence in heaven. If we could have that glory on us, it would really get the attention of those around us, wouldn't it?
That is exactly what happened to Moses when he met with the Lord face to face. (Exodus 34:29) When Moses was coming down from Mount Sinai, and he had the two tablets of the testimony in his hands that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because of his speaking with God. The people were taken back until he clamed them down, too.
Now, I know we are probably not going to get to talk with God face to face, so that our skin shines, but we should meet with the Lord on a regular basis. As we talk with Him, and we obey Him, we should become more and more like Him. People should be able to see the light of the Lord and the glory of the Lord in us.
Jesus told us that He is the Light of the world. We are to get our light by reflecting His light to others, the way our moon reflects the light of the sun to us. Jesus commanded us to so shine our light before other people that they would see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. That should be our goal every day.
