Suffering and Testing

We all go through suffering and testing. These two things can make our lives very difficult. Most of us do not handle pain and suffering very well. We don't want any of it. Also, the testing is a huge challenge. When we fail in the testing, it brings us more trouble and problems. We need help with suffering and testing.

The writer to Hebrews really understood a key truth in this area. (Hebrews 2:18) He told us that since Jesus Himself has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being tested. In other words, we do have help, and His name is Jesus.

Jesus suffered more than any other person in history. He suffered through poverty and all the difficulties it brings. He suffered physically as He ministered to others in difficult circumstances. He got tired and hungry. At the cross Jesus went through tremendous pain from the scourging and from being nailed to the cross and hung up to die. He can relate to our suffering and help us, if we ask Him.

Jesus was tested by Satan himself. Three times Jesus  endured the tests of the devil and remained faithful. Then, He was tested by the religious leaders, over and over again. He was tested to give up and do things in the power of the flesh instead of trusting the Word of God and the Father's commands. He never sinned in any of it, and He will help us overcome, if we go to Him.
