Obvious and Not Obvious Sins

Sometimes we do things that are obviously wrong. We see it and know it. Others can see that what we have done is wrong, too. However, there are other things which are not obvious, at all, but they are just as wrong as the obvious actions. God sees both of them, and He has a way of dealing with both of them.

Paul taught his son in the ministry, Timothy, about this. (I Timothy 5:24) He told him to remember that the sins of some people are obvious, leading them to certain judgment. But there are those whose sins will not be revealed until later. This told Timothy that all of the sins would be revealed, no matter what.

When we commit obvious sins, we will often incur judgment here in this life. This is especially true for those who commit crimes and are convicted of them. I am sure most of us have had a speeding ticket and had to pay a fine. Then, there are other far more serious sins with greater consequences.

Then, for other sins we commit, we do not get punished here by people or by God. One day, when we stand in the judgment time before the Lord, those sins will be revealed. God will show us, as Christians, just what we have done, and we will have to give an account of it. Even though all our sins are forgiven when we get saved, they will still be revealed to us, so we can consider what we should have done.
