Living Wisely Among Unbelievers
As Christians, we live in a world where the vast majority of people with whom we come into contact are not believers in Jesus Christ. It is our commission to be ambassadors for Christ to them. Believe me, if they are someone who knows you, they are watching all you do and say. However, even when we meet a total stranger, we are to be wise in how we act.
This was Paul's admonition to us. (Colossians 4:5) Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. That is a tall order, but it necessary if we are to be effective salt and light to this world, as Jesus told us we are to be. It takes a willful effort.
Wisdom is seeing things from God's perspective. So when we live wisely, we live as the Lord would in that situation. In other words, we must represent Jesus to the unbelievers by acting and speaking like Jesus. This takes us listening to the Holy Spirit for His power and direction all the time.
We have multiple opportunities every day to touch the lives of those who do not know Jesus. We may meet them face to face, so we must be ready to say the right thing on the spur of the moment. Maybe, we have be prompted by God to call or text them. Then, we need to obey, because the opportunity God is giving us may be for a limited time. Let's all ask the Spirit to show us just what to do in every opportunity we have each day.
