Get To Work
Procrastination is a huge problem for many people. We tend to put off doing things until the last minute. This makes it harder to do a good job and complete all that needs to be done, because we run out of time. This is especially a problem when it comes to doing what God commands us to do. Often, we do other things instead of His work.
That is what happened in Haggai's day. God had commanded them to rebuild the Temple, but they did their own homes and other things first, instead of obeying God immediately. (Haggai 2:4) So Haggai passed on God's message. He told Zerubbabel, the governor, to be strong. He told Jeshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest to be strong. He told the people left in the land to be strong, and for everyone to get to work because the Lord of Heaven's Armies was with them. We need to hear this today.
It is up to each of us to decide to be strong and to get to work. We may feel weak and unable to do the Lord's will, but that is never the case. Whenever God commands us to do something, He is with us to empower us and guide us. However, we have to take the initiative to do what He tells us. He will not force us.
Therefore, we must make His will our priority, and we must get to work on doing what He has said in His Word and in what He has told us directly If we put it off, as the people in Haggai's time did, we will get punished as they did. God will not prosper us or bless us, because we are living in sin, and God can't bless sin. So let's get to work in God's power and see what He does in us and through us.
